Odd/Even Balance

Statistically, winning draws tend to have a balanced mix of odd and even numbers. All-odd or all-even combinations are extremely rare — occurring in less than 1% of draws.

Balanced (e.g. 3/3 or 4/3)~65% of draws
Slightly unbalanced (e.g. 5/2)~28% of draws
All odd or all even<1% of draws

High/Low Distribution

Similar to odd/even, winning numbers typically spread across the full number range. Combinations drawn entirely from the top or bottom half are very uncommon.

Balanced (e.g. 3/3 or 4/3)~63% of draws
Slightly unbalanced (e.g. 5/2)~30% of draws
All low or all high<1% of draws

Consecutive Numbers

At least one pair of consecutive numbers (e.g. 14-15) appears in approximately 60% of all lottery draws. Three consecutive numbers appear in about 10%.

0 consecutive pairs~40% of draws
1 consecutive pair~45% of draws
2+ consecutive pairs~15% of draws

Sum Range

The sum of winning numbers tends to fall within a predictable range. Numbers that sum too low or too high are statistically unlikely in random draws.

Understanding Number Patterns in Australian Lotteries

While every lottery draw is completely random, analysing number patterns can be an interesting way to explore the statistical properties of your chosen numbers. Tools like the pattern analyser above help you understand how your number selection compares to historical trends — though it is important to remember that past patterns do not predict future results.

The most commonly observed pattern across all Australian lottery games is a balanced distribution of odd and even numbers. In Saturday Lotto (6 numbers from 45), the most frequent outcome is a 3 odd / 3 even split, appearing in approximately 33% of draws. A combination of all odd or all even numbers occurs in less than 1% of draws. Similarly, a balanced high/low distribution is much more common than extreme concentrations at either end of the number range.

Consecutive number pairs (like 14-15 or 31-32) appear more often than many players expect — roughly 60% of all draws contain at least one consecutive pair. This is a natural consequence of random selection from a fixed range and does not indicate any pattern or predictability in the draw process.
